1054 GEORGE BURTON⁷ (Horace⁶, Elisha⁵, Samuel⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹), son of Horace and Polly (Russell) Oatman, was born in 1832 in Connecticut, and died in 1899.

He married: 1) Frances M. "Fanny" Canfield, 25 November 1851; 2) Sarah Hammel, who was born 1841 and died 9 February 1904.

George was listed as a merchant in 1850. In 1860, Fanny's sister, Jennett, was living with them in Oxford, New Haven County, Connecticut.
