110 ELISHA5 (Isaac4,
George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Isaac and
Anna (Brainerd) Oatman, was born at Arlington, Bennington County, Vermont, 25
September 1798, died at Batavia, Genesee County, New York, 8 February 1860, and
is buried at East Pembrook, New York.
He married, in
Shaftsbury, Vermont, on 21 January 1819, Lucy A., daughter of William and
Charlotte (Buck) Imus, born 22 December 1803, died 15 March 1884 at Salem, New
York. The family was living in Batavia,
New York, in 1840 and 1850, where Elisha was a carpenter. All of the children were presumably born in
Arlington, Bennington County, Vermont, except Mortimer, who states he was born
in New York.

510 Merrett J., b. 7 Apr 1820; d. 1905. Merrett was living in Black Rock, Erie Co.,
NY, in July of 1850. He was a teacher,
and living with Samuel Norton, 39, boatman; Caroline Norton, 40; Sarah Norton,
20; and Louisa Oatman, age 17, born in New York, who was Merrett's wife and the
daughter of Samuel and Caroline Norton.
By 1880, Merrett and Louisa were living in Argyle, Washington Co., NY,
with his nephew Elijah C. Oatman (son of his brother Isaac Henry), and the
following children, surname Oatman:

N., b. ca 1864, NY
511 Orlin K., b. 23 Mar 1823; d. 1852. Orlin was also living in Black Rock, Erie
Co., NY, in 1850, age 27, in the household of Daniel Kelly, a clerk, whose
residence appeared to be a boarding house, also containing Andrew Rolf, a
grocer, and wife Mary; William Slocum, clerk; and John Foster, a clothier.

Henry, b. 17 May 1825; d. 30 Jan 1920; m. Charlotte Chapman
513 Avis A., b. 20 Sep 1827/28; d. 3 Jun 1905;
m. John I. Seeley; he was b. 13 Jan 1824, d. 10 Apr 1893. He was a farmer and Justice of the
Peace. Avis' sister, Amory, lived with
them in 1850 in Hartford, NY. In 1880
John's mother, Philinda Lee, was living with them,
aged 80. Avis and John are bur. Old
Hartford Cem., Hartford, NY. Known
children, surname Seeley:
A Philinda, b. 1843, NY.
She was a schoolteacher.
514 Celestia, b. 13 Aug 1830; d. in infancy
515 Amory, b. 12 Oct 1831; d. 12 Sep 1921; m.
1) Andrew Covell; 2) Abraham
Stockwell; 3) Captain Bartholomew
516 Mortimer Dudley, b. 25 Sep 1834, NY. Liv. 1860 in Hartford, Washington Co.,NY, age 23, in the household of David L. Hall 35,
carriage maker; David’s wife Elizabeth 31; Alice A. 11; and Mary 5. In 1870 and 1880 he was living with his
widowed mother Lucy in Hebron, Washington Co., NY, where he was a farmer and a
marble dealer.
