1461     MARSHALL OATMAN

 

 

1461    MARSHALL7     (Delos W.6, Truman5, Benjamin4, George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Delos W. and Autha Oatman, was born ca 1859 in Oxford County, Ontario.

 

He married Jessie, daughter of Kelvin Chappell and Rachel Burzee (Skinner) Pace.  She was born in 1865 in Davenport, Ontario, died 23 July 1958 in Tillsonburg, Oxford County, Ontario, and was buried 26 July 1958 in St. Luke's Cemetery, Vienna, Ontario.

 

Only one child was born of this marriage.  Shortly after his daughter's birth, Marshall left home, presumably to find work, and never returned.

William John Mounteer.  He was b. 14 Feb 1884 at Chatham, ON, and d. 19 Jan 1935, Moose Jaw, SK.  He was the son of Edwin Asa Mounteer, (b. 24 Jan 1860, Wesleyville, ON, d. 1 Sep 1940 at Moose Jaw, bur. Chatham, ON), and Jennie May Kerr (b. 2 Sep 1858, Wallaceburg, ON, d. 23 Mar 1915, Weyburn, SK; bur. Chatham, ON), who were m. 23 May 1883 in Wallaceburg, ON.  They had two other children:   1) Lulu Belle Mounteer, b. 6 May 1886, Chatham, ON, d. 1 Sep 1933, Moose Jaw, SK; and 2) Edwin Webber Mounteer, b. 25 Jun 1888, Chatham, ON, and d. 1944, Regina, SK.

A         Donald Edwin, b. 2 Aug 1917, Moose Jaw, SK; m. 25 Jul 1940, Margaret Ann Young, at Barriefield Camp, Kingston, ON, daughter of Frank Arthur and Philipina (Heidt) Young.  Don served as an officer in the Canadian Army Regular Force from 23 May 1938 until his retirement 2 Aug 1973; he held the rank of Brigadier General from 1 Sep 1967 for life.  Children, surname Mounteer:
