265 HORACE OATMAN
265 HORACE6 (Elisha5, Samuel4, George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Elisha and
Sarah (Bates) Oatman, was born in Derby, New Haven County, Connecticut, in 1805
and died 10 December 1887 at the age of 82 years.
On 5 October 1825
he married Polly Russell, born 5 October 1805 and died 10 July 1884. The family settled in Oxford, Connecticut,
where they lived during their lifetime.
The 1840 census of Oxford lists the following in Horace's
household: one male 5-10 (Edwin?), two
males 10-15 (George and Charles), one male 15-20, and four males 20-30
(unknown), one male 30-40 (Horace), and one female 30-40 (Polly).
