3109 GUY GEORGE OATMAN

3109 GUY GEORGE⁸ (Albin⁷, Parker⁶, Asahel⁵, Benjamin⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹) son of Albin and Louisa (Van Meer) Oatman, was born 18 December 1893 in Avoca, St. Clair County, Michigan, and died in Port Richey, Pasco County, Florida, 10 July 1970. He married: 1) Jean, daughter of William and Fannie (Munro) Fusee, on 23 June 1915; she was born 1 July 1893, Avoca, Michigan, and died 29 October 1944 in Port Huron, Michigan; 2) Laura "Dottie" Neiderhauser, January 1946, who was born 1916 and was living in 1983 in Port Richey, Florida.

Guy George lived in Toledo, Ohio, in 1914. In 1916, after his marriage to Jean, he worked at Packard Motors in Detroit, Michigan. Then in 1917 he went into partnership with his brother Fred in a gas station in Avoca, Michigan. In the early 1920's, Guy opened a chain of U-Auto-No-Oatman stores in Port Huron, Lexington, St. Clair and Pontiac, Michigan. The stores sold accessories for cars, i.e., spare tires, spotlights, etc. He was also one of the first ones to sell radios for the home when they came out.

When the stock market crashed in 1929, Guy gradually, between 1929 and 1932, phased out the stores. During the summers of 1930 and 1931, he ran the Summer Hotel, Pavillion and Concession on Stag Island, Ontario. In 1932 he opened a bar in Port Huron until 1936, and in 1937, ran a juke box business, servicing areas as far away as Roscommon. After Jean's death in 1944, Guy went to California where he met Laura "Dottie" Neiderhauser of St. Clair, Michigan; they were married in January 1946. He then sold boats in California. In 1967 they moved to Port Richey, where Guy lived until his death in 1970.
