3120 LOUIS L. OATMAN

3120 LOUIS L.⁸ (Freeman Willis⁷, James⁶, Asahel⁵, Benjamin⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹), son of Willis and Minnie (Woodard) Oatman, was born at Springford, Oxford County, Ontario, 11 May 1882 (gravestone says 1881), and died 6 Jul 1949.

He married, on 2 May 1905, Paris, Ontario, Ada Jane, daughter of David and Elizabeth (Gilbert) Ruckle, born 20 October 1882 (1880 per gravestone) and died in 1959. The family resided at Springford, Ontario, where Louis operated a market garden, and are buried at the Springford Cemetery. Also buried there is Elizabeth Ruckle (1848-1935), mother of Ada Jane.

5816 Blaine Douglas, b. 3 Sep 1908, S. Norwich Twp., Oxford Co., ON; d. 23 Apr 1983, Tillsonburg, ON; m. Margaret Frances Pettman on 30 Nov 1940; she b. 12 Apr 1911. Blaine was a market gardener for 43 years and owned Oatman Greenhouse and Garden Centre in Springford, ON, where he lived all of his life. He attended Springford United Church, and was secretary-treasurer of the Springford Cemetery board for many years. He was very active in sports, such as hunting and fishing, and had hunted in Northern Ontario for 52 years with the Springford Hunt Club. He was one of the founders of the former South Norwich Fish and Game Club. Blaine is buried in Springford Cem., Springford, ON. Children, surname Oatman:

William Earl Haley, 2 Sep 1939, Springford, Oxford Co., ON; he b. 1 Feb 1912, d. 28 Mar 1986, FL, both bur. Springford Cem., Springford, ON. Lila was active in church work as a member of Springford Baptist Church, a member of the Mission Circle, president of the junior Bible class, choir leader, and member of Springford Women’s Institute. She was at one time Superintendent of the Sunday School. Children, surname Haley:
