3401 CLYDE DANFORD OATMAN

3401 CLYDE DANFORD⁸ ( Danford G⁷, Darius⁶, George⁵, Benjamin⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹), son of Danford George and Helen M. (Bryant) Oatman, was born 1 March 1882. He married, 6 March 1907, Rachel Louise Valkenburg.

Clyde Danford was a physician, and held the rank of Major in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army. His obituary, undated, states: “Danforth Oatman, who was injured in a runaway last Thursday, died last Saturday in the hospital at Syracuse. His remains were brought home Sunday morning and the funeral held at his late residence at Greene Settlement Tuesday afternoon.”

Cemetery records from Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, state: “OATMAN, Louise R., b. 08/07/1885, d. 03/23/1974, Plot 2S 244, bur. 05/26/1974" and “OATMAN, Clyde Danford, b. 03/01/1882, d. 04/27/1957, COL ARMY HOSP CP GRUBER OKLA USA MED CORPS, Plot: 2S 245, bur. 04/30/1957,” indicating they are buried next to their son, Clyde, Jr.

6000 Clyde Danford, Jr., b. 21 Mar 1910; d. 20 Oct 1983, San Antonio, TX. Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery records in San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX, list him: “OATMAN, Clyde D., Jr., b. 03/21/1910, d. 10/20/1983, COL USA, Plot: 2S 246, bur. 10/24/1983.” Buried next to Clyde, in Plot 2S 247, is: OATMAN, Irene D., b. 01/20/1903, d. 11/14/1989, bur. 11/17/1989,” probably his wife.
