3504 FLOYD WALTER OATMAN

3504 FLOYD WALTER⁸ (Clarke Walter⁷, Walter⁶, Elias⁵, Benjamin⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹), son of Clarke Walter and Ella (Greene) Oatman, was born 31 August 1884 at Honeyville, near Adams Center, Jefferson County, New York, and died 26 December 1962 at the Jefferson County Hospital in Watertown where he had been a patient since 18 December. He moved to Watertown with his mother when he was a boy after the death of his father, and most of life was spent there.

He married Maude Hawley Hartwick, 5 Aug 1911, at Watertown; she was born in Theresa, Jefferson County, New York, 14 July 1893, daughter of James Hartwick, a native of Enterprise, Lennox & Addington County, Ontario, Canada, and Clara E. Sharpe, formerly of Port Leyden. Maude spent her early life at Theresa where she attended school. She died 10 March 1962 at Watertown. Both are buried at North Watertown Cemetery.

Floyd lived for a few years at Brownville and Glen Park, New York, where he worked for a paper mill. He also worked at the "old City Opera house" before he went to the New York Air Brake Company plant, where he was a caremaker and moulder for 32 years until his retirement at age 65. They were members of the Hope Presbyterian Church, and Floyd belonged to the International Moulders' Union. Floyd moved to the home of his son Donald after his wife's death.
