489     ALVA OATMAN

 

 

489      ALVA6     (Arnold5Isaac4, George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Arnold and Abigail (Hayes) Oatman, was born 17 March 1823 in Hartland, Hartford County, Connecticut.  In 1855 in Suffield, Hartford County, he married Sarah Isabelle, daughter of Henry and Sarah I. Pease of Suffield; she was born 12 April 1830 and died 30 July 1902. 

 

Alva was President of the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Hartford, Connecticut, at the time of his death from apoplexy on 6 December 1883.  He was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Connecticut.

B         Charles Egbert, b. 9 Nov 1889

 

C         William Alva, b. 12 Oct 1891

 

1591    Clara Abigail, b. 10 Aug 1861; m. William Lee Howard of Hartford, CT, on 7 Jul 1885.  Children, surname Howard:

 

A         William Lee, b. 18 Dec 1887, New York City

 

1592    Alva, b. 3 Aug 1865; d. 23 Jul 1930; m. Helen Bacon, ca 1902.  Alva was listed as a manufacturer of steam equipment in 1920 and retired in 1930, living in Manhattan.  One daughter, surname Oatman:
