489 ALVA6 (Arnold5, Isaac4, George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Arnold and Abigail (Hayes) Oatman, was born 17 March 1823 in Hartland, Hartford County, Connecticut. In 1855 in Suffield, Hartford County, he married Sarah Isabelle, daughter of Henry and Sarah I. Pease of Suffield; she was born 12 April 1830 and died 30 July 1902.
Alva was President of the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Hartford, Connecticut, at the time of his death from apoplexy on 6 December 1883. He was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Connecticut.
