5870 JOHN WILLIAM⁹ (Alvin L.⁸, John⁷, Eli⁶, Darius⁵, Benjamin⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹), son of Alvin L. and Gladys Alfretta (Bartlett) Oatman, was born 14 July 1929 at Rosanna, Oxford County, Ontario, died 10 September 1987, at Victoria Hospital, London, Middlesex County, Ontario and was buried 14 September 1987 at the Tillsonburg Cemetery, Tillsonburg, Ontario.

He married Elva Kathleen Church on 11 October 1958 at Aylmer, Elgin County, Ontario; Kathleen was born in June 1941 in Middlesex County, Ontario, the daughter of Wellington Hasting and Alta Elizabeth (Brice) Church.

After John's death in 1987, Kathleen married his brother, William Milo, on 12 February 1988 at the United Church in Tillsonburg.
