6039 GERALD R. OATMAN
6039 GERALD R.9 (Earl E.8, Clarke Walter7, Walter6, Elias5, Benjamin4, George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Earl E. and Mary Lena (Cook) Oatman, was born 2 August 1927, Glen Park, New York, and moved to Watertown, Jefferson County, New York, with his parents as a small boy. He was educated in local public schools, graduating in 1945 from Watertown High School. After graduation, he went from part-time to full-time employee at the Watertown Daily Times, where he worked until his death; on 22 January 1951, he entered the Army and served in Anchorage, Alaska, with an anti-aircraft gun battalion.
Jerry married Norma Jean Plank of Evans Mills, New York, on 6 August 1950, at the First Methodist Church at Watertown. They lived near Evans Mills most of the time of their marriage. Norma also worked for the Watertown Daily Times.
Jerry died at the age of 38 on 15 December 1965 in Watertown after suffering a massive cerebral hemorrhage. Burial was in the Calcium Cemetery, Watertown, New York.
