64     JOHN OATMAN

64        JOHN5     (Daniel4, George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Daniel and Mary (Spencer) Oatman, was born at Arlington, Bennington County, Vermont, 1 April 1772.  He was married 2 May 1799 to Hannah Stoddard.

Little is known of John.  The 1800 census of Sandgate, Bennington County, Vermont, lists a John Oatman as head of a family which included one male under 10, one male 26-45, one female under 10, and one female 16-26, which could be this John Oatman.

"Military History of New Hampshire 1623-1861" [1972] shows:

"Adjutant-General's Report, Roll of Capt. Follett's Company [War of 1812] . . . John Oatman, enlisted June 27, [18]13, to June 5, [18]17."
