75 ELISHA5 (Samuel4,
George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Samuel and
Hannah (Wooster), Oatman, was born 16 March 1774, at Southford,
Connecticut, was baptized at St. James Church, Derby, New Haven County,
Connecticut, 5 June 1774, and died at Oxford, New Haven County, Connecticut, 10
March 1865, at age 91.
He married: 1) Sarah, daughter of Elisha and Hannah
(Andrus) Bates who died 9 July 1834 at the age of 57 years; 2) on 7 January 1836, Damaris Smith,
born 25 March 1772, died 26 June 1866, at the age of 84 years.
Elisha was a
shoemaker. This family settled and lived
at Derby, Connecticut, during their lifetime and are buried in the replaced old
Squatic Cemetery in the town of Oxford, on the Derby
River Road.
