991      LEROY S.7      (Lyman6, David5, Samuel4, George3, John2, Johannes1), son of Lyman and

Desire (Barrell) Oatman, was born 6 July 1844 in Hartford, Washington County, New York, and died in Buffalo, Erie County, New York.

On 31 July 1867, he married Lucinda E. "Lucy" Stray, who was born about 1844 in New York.

LeRoy came to Erie County in 1848, and remained there the rest of his life. He was a special deputy clerk of Erie County, and had a pharmacy at Angola, New York. LeRoy was in the 116th Regiment, New York Volunteers, and was in every engagement of the regiment except one, and was wounded in the process. He was a Justice of the Peace, and an active member of the Angola Board of Education. In 1876 he was listed as Master of Evans Lodge No. 261 of the Masons. The 1890 directory of Buffalo, New York, lists him in business as L. S. O & Co.
