441 HENRY C.⁶ (Elias⁵, Benjamin⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹), son of Elias and Eliza (Bunce) Oatman, was born 1 October 1825 in Adams, Jefferson County, New York, and died 11 March 1902 at the age of 76 years, 5 months, 10 days, at the home of his son Manford in Adams Center, Jefferson County, New York.

Henry married Saphrona Phelps, who was born about 1826 in New York, and died Tuesday, 10 January 1882 at the age of 54; she is buried in the State Road (Honeyville) Cemetery, Adams Center, New York. He and Saphrona were living in 1870 in Rodman, Jefferson County, New York, with their three children in the household of Jeremiah Phelps, 82, and his wife, Lucinda, 71.

Henry is listed as a farmer in the 1890 Adams Center Business Directory and owner of a farm, house and lot.

She was the daughter of Calvin Vinaca and Emaline Miner. Children, surname Oatman:

A Mary E., b. 24 Jul 1875, NY; m. Arthur D. Scidmore (he b. 1876); both bur. State Road (Honeyville) Cem., Adams Center, NY. Mary joined First Baptist Church of Adams in 1888. Another item in the church records indicates a Calista (Pettit Freeman) Oatman, also b. 24 Jul 1875, Adams, who m. an A. Scidmore. This is possibly Mary.

B Bertha, b. Oct 1884, NY; d. ca 1922; m. Sheldon. Son, Clyde Sheldon, liv. Adams Center, NY, 1932.

1471 Alfred, b. ca 1855; d. 1894. Fred joined the Honeyville Baptist Church in 1876. The 1860 census listed him as Alford, and in 1870 as Fred. In ca 1882, he m. Florence _____, b. Dec 1860, who in 1900 had borne four children, with only one living, surname Oatman:
