1728 IRA OATMAN

1728 IRA⁷, Leaman⁶, Ruben Bates⁵, Isaac⁴, George³, John², Johannes¹), son of Leaman and Ann Eliza (Parson) Oatman, was born 22 Oct 1873 in Neenah, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, and died 14 Aug 1952. He married first, Nellie Beda Shoberg on 5 Nov 1892; she died 18 Mar 1895. He then married Jane Cynthia Collins, 27 Jun 1899. (the 1900 census indicates Ira was unmarried so this date may be incorrect). She was born 19 Apr 1877 in Minnesota and died 22 Dec 1931.

Ira was a blacksmith by trade in Kingston, MN, until 1912, when he sold out and moved to Clearwater, MN. There he bought the shop from Mr. Whitney, where he had learned the trade. He was forced to retire in late 1945 due to ill health.
